The Phoenix Blues Society was founded in 1989, and is one of over 160 national and international affiliates of the Blues Foundation, a 501(c)(3) corporation based in Memphis Tennessee.

The Phoenix Blues Society, an all-volunteer organization, supports local and national music, Blues culture and heritiage, arts education and more.

Highlights of the Blues Society's annual calendar include its Blues Blast Festival, held in February, its Back Porch show in support of acoustic Blues and the Arizona Blues Showdown, its annual competition to determine a winning band to advance to Memphis to compete in the IBC.
